Arts Council England (ACE) is urging businesses and the art sectors to work together.
Speaking at the Creative Industries summit at the British Film Institute, ACE chief executive Alan Davey explained that the creative sector is a major force driving economic growth in the UK.
In order for the success of the arts to continue, Mr Davey called for further investment in the sector to ensure that it is kept at the centre of the country's economic future.
'Our international reputation for cultural excellence already makes the UK an attractive place to invest in and visit. But by increasing the reach of the arts on offer Â… the arts can stimulate economic growth,' he said.
'Put simply, with cultural wealth comes economic wealth Â… So much so that I believe the cultural sector is the bedrock of our successful creative industries and the UK's knowledge economy.'
Mr Davey encouraged the commercial arts industry to work closely with the tourism sector in a bid to help boost the UK's economic growth.
