DANCE/ MOVEMENT PRACTITIONER WANTED

Richmond Hill Special School, Luton, working in partnership with UKCCA wish to contract a Dance/Movement practitioner to support the delivery of their Enquiry school creative learning programme with Creative Partnerships.

Richmond Hill is a Special school for primary aged children with severe learning difficulties and complex learning needs. Many of our children are non- verbal and their behaviour can be challenging. It is a well - resourced school with over 50 staff (teachers, support staff & specialist therapeutic practitioners) & we endeavour to provide a very special and individual education for our young people.
The Brief:
We are looking for a Dance/Movement practitioner who has experience of working with children with a variety of needs and is interested in planning and delivering an Enquiry school project with the staff & young people focusing on communication and understanding. We want to investigate the ways in which dance and movement can help our children to communicate and be expressive and at the same time, help the staff to increase their understanding of the children and their needs.
The project will be carried out across a year group with years 3 & 4.
The practitioner we select will have:
⢠Experience of working with & an understanding of our children and their complex needs.
⢠Flexibility when faced with the unexpected
⢠Motivation, inspiration and the ability to make things fun.
⢠An ability to reflect and evaluate the projectâs progress and convey this to others.
⢠A current CRB check or willingness to undergo a CRB check. Public Liability insurance certificate.

Contractual information
The programme will run from February â June 2010. The daily contract fee is £200 (inclusive of VAT travel & expenses) and covers planning, project delivery, reflection & evaluation for a maximum of 15 days. The programme will be delivered through a mixture of full and half day sessions in school â exact dates and times to be decided with the practitioner. Sessions will take place in term time only and within the school day.
