NEW BEDFORDSHIRE-BASED ART GALLERY

Borough Council

29th October 2009

Entrepreneurs, Melanie Burnell and Julie Boyle, are looking for talented artists to showcase their artwork in a new innovative arts centre, ‘b Gallery’. They will soon be launching their third gallery in Bedfordshire, following on from the success of their galleries in London & Hertfordshire. These two ambitious Bedfordshire women will be reviving the Old Town Hall in Toddington, which had been neglected for almost three years. The beautiful grade II listed building will soon be a buzzing arts venue breathing new life into the area. They are opening the doors for talented local artists to exhibit alongside their collection of internationally renowned published artists, such as Rolf Harris, Jack Vettriano, Beryl Cook and Fletcher Sibthorp.

Founding partner Julie Boyle says: “‘b Gallery’s’ concept is to be a unique interactive creative hub. Our aim is to encourage visitors all year round to freely interact with our resident artists who will be working from their studios, as well as enjoying the varied exhibitions that will be on display. Whist enjoying complimentary refreshments, clients will be able to browse all that we have on offer creating a unique experience. Gala days will be held throughout the year supporting local charities and local community projects.†We are looking for talented, original artists in the area and are keen to promote ambitious people who are eager to increase exposure of their work. Bedfordshire has huge artistic talent, which is currently under represented and we believe we can give artists a platform whereby they can sell their work. The art market has seen a recent upturn of sales, making this an ideal time to join us in this exciting and hugely rewarding business enterprise.†
‘b Gallery’ are looking for 30 artists to begin with, to display their artwork on designated boards. There are also four working studios and a photography studio available. Spaces are limited, so artists interested in joining this exciting new venture are advised to apply as soon as possble
Founding partner Melanie Burnell says: “We have all noticed the decline in high street galleries and we feel this has led to lack of morale and frustration amongst artists. To combat this and to further help Bedfordshire artists regain exposure and sales, we have founded a new concept in ‘b gallery.’ Championing local artists, we are determined to showcase their talents in the community, promoting the artists and Bedfordshire itself, as a unique arts centre.â€
